Rory and Alice’s Seaside Wedding at The East Quay, Whitstable

This summer I had the pleasure of photographing Rory and Alice’s wedding at East Quay in Whitstable. East Quay is a unique venue right by the sea, with an industrial, rustic vibe that fits perfectly with the coastal surroundings. The mix of exposed brick, wooden beams, and views of the harbour makes it a relaxed spot with plenty of character – perfect for couples wanting a laid-back celebration by the water.

A Relaxed Start in Whitstable Town

The day began with Alice and her bridesmaids getting ready at a cozy Airbnb in Whitstable town. It was a super chilled atmosphere, with everyone enjoying the morning and gearing up for the day ahead. Once Alice was ready, I headed over to East Quay to meet Rory, who was chatting with his family and guests, looking a bit nervous but excited :)

Ceremony with the Sound of Waves

The ceremony took place upstairs at East Quay, with views out over the sea. As Alice walked in, you could see the happiness on her face, and the moment they shared their vows with the waves in the background made for something really special. It was a simple, heartfelt ceremony that felt just right for this setting.

Confetti, Bubbles, and a Touch of West Ham

After the ceremony, Rory and Alice walked through a shower of bubbles, a fun nod to Rory’s love of West Ham United. It made for a great moment as friends and family cheered them on, adding a bit of personal flair to the day.

A Seaside Feast and Bingo Fun

For the wedding breakfast, guests were treated to beer-battered fish and chips, along with Whitstable’s famous oysters – the perfect seaside menu. After some emotional speeches, the group played a game of bingo, which got everyone laughing and added a nice, lighthearted touch to the afternoon.

Walks by the Harbour and Sunset on the Beach

After bingo, I took Rory and Alice for a relaxed walk around East Quay harbour to capture some fun, candid shots. The industrial backdrop mixed with the seaside vibes gave us some great photo opportunities. Later in the evening, as the sun began to set, we stepped out onto the beach for some sunset photos, with a stunning sky on the horizon. It was a beautiful end to a great day.

Dancefloor Energy to End the Night

The evening wrapped up with everyone on the dancefloor, where I stayed to capture some brilliant and fun moments. The energy was fantastic, with everyone letting loose and celebrating Rory and Alice. To finish things off, Rory and Alice had a sparkler send-off outside, right next to the beach. Friends and family lined up with sparklers in hand, creating a warm, glowing pathway that made for some brilliant final shots.
